Stone Fountain

The intensive silver mining in the town resulted in the disruption of the underground springs, so Kutná Hora had constant problems with the availability of drinking water for its population. Therefore, in 1495 the town decided to build a twelve-sided stone fountain, originally roofed, to serve as a reservoir of drinking water. The water, incidentally, was fed into it through a 2.5 km long wooden pipe from the St. Vojtěch spring, which was located near the village of Bylany.

The fountain served in this way until 1890.
